When was the last time you thought about how to wash your hands? You did it all your life - but did you do it right?

Did you know that in order for you to wash your hands well, you need to rub your hands together with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds or approximately the same time you need to sing the song "Happy Birthday" twice, in order for you to clean them properly? You don't want to sing loudly, but it's just a useful way to remind you of the time you need to wash your hands!

Good handwashing techniques

  1. Dampen hands with clean, warm, running water
  2. Put a small amount of soap on your hands
  3. Rub your palms together, (away from the water)
  4. Rub your fingers, thumb, and sockets between them
  5. Rub your nails in the palm of your hands
  6. Rub the back of your hands both ways
  7. Rinse with clean running water
  8. Dry them with a clean towel or paper towel
